ANTIFORMxYOU – WIN YOUR OWN CUSTOM-MADE GARMENT
Somewhere, in every wardrobe, is a kind of wardrobe purgatory. Here lies the clothing and other fabric items we loved ‘too much’ – the beloved jumper you accidentally shrunk in the wash; the top that doesn’t suit you but with the fabric you love; the now too-small dress you wore on your first date with your partner; the tote you used to breaking point. Sadly, it’s often the garments we love most which end up in this sentimental limbo, simply because we don’t know what to do with them, but we can’t bear to give them away or throw them out.
The thing is, do we have to? At Antiform we’ve always loved a bit of customisation, in fact our beginnings were in customising and upcycling garments to give them a new lease of life. Tweaking or repurposing a garment is a great way to keep the memories associated with it alive – rather than languishing away forgotten at the back of a drawer. This is one of the reasons why we created ANTIFORMxYOU, our new custom-made offering for our classic Folk Dress and Box Jumper.
ANTIFORM x YOU aims to rekindle a love story between us and our clothing – to reclaim fashion from the anonymous high street and back into the personal, the cherished, and the unique.
The concept behind it is simple – to give you the option to make our classic Folk Dress and Box Jumper a bit more YOU, by incorporating a panel of your own cherished fabric or preloved garment in the design. With the Antiform team on hand to help guide you through the process, of course!
For our Folk Dress one of your much loved fabrics or preloved garments becomes the central panel of the dress – we’ll help you choose the other panels and trims from our library of amazing reclaimed heritage and UK-made fabrics.
For our Box Jumper personalise your sleeve panels! The only requirement is that your chosen fabric is a knit of at least 40 x 40cm. This could range from a jumper or cardi you’ve accidentally shrunk in the wash to much-loved old blanket! The central panel and trims will once again be perfectly matched to your specifications from our extensive fabric archive!
If you’re in Bristol, you can even visit the studio to see your ANTIFORMxYOU garment design being made by the team.
